Luxury guest portraits for weddings & events
THE EXPERIENCE
What it is:
The Portrait Edit is an editorial portrait experience for your wedding or event. A professional photographer — that’s me — crafts individual black-and-white portraits of your guests using studio lighting, elegant backdrops, and editorial-style posing. Every guest walks away with a gallery-quality portrait, not a blurry candid snapped by a machine. Think Vanity Fair at your reception.
How it works:
Your people step in front of the camera one at a time (or as a couple, or a family — whatever feels right). I guide them through natural, editorial poses — no awkward cheese, no forced smiles. Every portrait is individually shot and edited, not batch-processed through an app. After the event, the full collection is delivered through a private online gallery that both you and your guests can access — so everyone gets to see and download not just their own portrait, but the entire set. If you’ve chosen a prints package, your guests also take home a same-day print — a tangible, gallery-grade keepsake.
Why it’s not a photo booth:
Let’s be honest — you’ve seen the photo booths. The strip of four overexposed grins, the novelty props, the images that end up in the bottom of a handbag. The Portrait Edit is the opposite of that. There’s no booth. No timer. No screen to stare at. Just a photographer who knows light, knows posing, and knows how to make your guests feel like the most interesting person in the room. The result is a portrait worth framing — not a throwaway keepsake.
Your tribe, beautifully captured:
The Portrait Edit slots naturally into your event — typically during cocktail hour while guests are mingling, or in the background of your reception between courses, speeches, and dance sets. There’s no disruption, no announcement needed. Guests drift over when they’re ready, have their portrait taken, and head back to the party. It fills the quiet moments with something genuinely engaging — a reason to gather, a laugh with friends, and a beautiful portrait to take home. Unlike a photo booth strip that gets lost by morning, it’s a keepsake your guests will actually keep. It’s the rare wedding detail that is both entertainment and a meaningful gift — a legacy of the love that was in the room.
HOW IT WORKS
01 / We Shoot
Your guests step in front of the camera one at a time — relaxed, with subtle direction. Professionally lit with a choice of studio backdrops, we capture their unique personality away from the noise of the main event. No rushing, no awkward posing. Just real portraits of real people.
02 / We Edit & Curate
Each portrait is individually retouched and carefully curated by a professional editor. This happens quietly behind the scenes so your guests are none the wiser — they just know they look incredible.
03 / We Deliver
The full collection is delivered through a private online gallery — accessible to you and every one of your guests. Everyone can view, download, and share the entire set, not just their own portrait.
04 / We Print
With our prints packages, your guests take home a same-day print — a tangible keepsake they will actually treasure. Not a strip that ends up in the bin. A portrait worth framing.
FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Is this a photo booth?
No. There is no booth, no curtain, no touchscreen, and no novelty props. The Portrait Edit is a portrait experience — a professional photographer using studio lighting and guided posing to create individual black-and-white portraits of your guests. The result is a gallery-quality image, not a photo strip.
How many guests can you photograph?
The Portrait Edit is designed to be available throughout the natural rhythm of your celebration — from cocktail hour through dinner, speeches and the final guest rush — rather than operate as a short, continuous queue.
We photograph one guest, couple or small group approximately every 3–5 minutes. As a guide, our collections accommodate:
- Up to 80 guests: 3.5 hours
- Up to 120 guests: 4.5 hours
- Up to 150 guests: 5.5 hours
This allows us to create each portrait carefully, prepare the same-day prints and give guests their moment without feeling rushed. Final capacity depends on your guest list, event timeline and how many guests choose to participate.
What do guests receive?
Every guest receives instant access to a private online gallery featuring their portrait along with all the other portraits from the event. Guests also take home a same-day print. Digital delivery is included in every package.
Do guests need to book a time slot?
No. Guests simply come over when they are ready — during cocktail hour, between courses, or whenever they like. There is no sign-up sheet and no scheduling. It is designed to flow naturally with your event.
What if a guest is camera-shy?
Most people are not models, and they do not need to be.
Each guest is gently guided through simple, natural prompts, so they never have to worry about what to do. They can step in alone, with a partner or as part of a small group. The result is a relaxed, flattering portrait that feels like them.
There is no pressure to participate. Just an easy, enjoyable experience for anyone who would like their moment in front of the camera.
Can we choose between black-and-white and colour?
Our signature style is black-and-white — it is timeless, elegant, and suits every skin tone and outfit. Colour portraits are available with our Grand package.
Do you travel outside of Perth?
Absolutely. We cover the Perth metro area, Swan Valley, Margaret River, and the South West. Travel fees may apply for regional and interstate events — get in touch and we will provide a quote.
Are you replacing our main wedding photographer?
No — not at all. The Portrait Edit runs completely independently of your existing wedding photographer or videographer. We work alongside them, filling the quieter moments of your day with something your guests will love. Think of us as an add-on experience, not a replacement.
What size are the prints?
Every portrait is printed as a 6 × 4 inch black-and-white photograph, with rich tonal detail and a smooth protective finish.
Small enough to take home, substantial enough to keep, each print is prepared during the event and given to the guest the same day.
Can we choose the backdrop?
Yes. We offer a choice of backdrops depending on your style and the space available. Our signature look is a soft, ethereal style, but we also offer clean white and dark charcoal options. We will discuss what works best for your venue.
What about the other photos you take of each guest?
We typically take five or six frames per guest and carefully select the strongest image for editing and delivery. If you would like the full set of unedited frames from every guest, this can be arranged as a post-event add-on.
Can we book for rehearsal dinners or multi-day events?
Absolutely. We regularly shoot at rehearsal dinners and then exhibit or gift the prints at the wedding itself. For multi-day events, we can extend coverage or run sessions across both days. Just let us know what you have in mind.
